This "letter from Gaborone" is, I believe written by Dr. Neil Parsons. He is a Professor in the history department at the University of Botswana and knew Alexander McCall Smith, the author of the "Mma Ramotswe" books. It nicely captures the difference between the feeling of Botswana created in these books and the reality today.
